1.My message in the Argus to the city as we entered lockdown

Thank you for all that you are doing. Let’s pull together, and stick together, to save lives. We can do this.

2.Support available

Please find below and attached the council’s latest leaflet identifying support available. The idea of the leaflet is to share the latest Covid advice and the support available in the city. This will also be delivered by Royal Mail to all homes in Brighton & Hove next week. Additional copies will be shared through food parcels and various services and community groups later this week. Please share the attached digital version if it is useful. If you would like any printed copies please email with the number you require and delivery details. Please also find the government reminder of the national measures in place across different sectors.

3.Digital inclusion

More detailed information about the support and resources available can be found on the website:

  • Digital Inclusion support continues to be offered through Digital Brighton & Hove matching people who need help.

Digital Helpline 07475 946084 and get help from one of our volunteers

AbilityNet are providing free one-to-one remote support for anyone who needs help to get online during the pandemic (e.g. setting up a new device, keeping in touch with family, online shopping, staying safe online). Call 0800 048 7642 to get some help now!
Please note this service is extended to everyone, not just older people or disabled people.

Collection of tablets for lending out are being fully used and there is a waiting list for these.  Currently evaluating their impact and looking at supporting partner organisations to obtain more devices.

Tablet Loan Scheme: We’re part of the DevicesDotNow campaign and have donated a limited amount of connected tablets to those vulnerable groups who would benefit the most from being online during the pandemic. We hope to get more soon! Please complete this form to express interest in receiving a tablet. TechTakeback is progressing with plans for collection of old tech for refurbishing to redistribute to people who need it.  Challenge is finding locations to collect this equipment.  Looking to set up some more  pop-up events to collect old tech during November.  More information when I know it.

4.Nick May, Sussex Police Divisional commander update- first of his monthly updates

I’m glad Nick has asked his offices to concentrate on, among other things, dealing with offences which impact on the “look and feel of the city” such as graffiti.

If there are any local issues you’re having please email us and we will see what we can do about it.

Lockdown is here because Covid-19 is sadly still making people sick and killing people.

Please continue to stay safe
